Aman Moroney, an award-winning music producer and composer, has made an unforgettable entrance into the solo music scene with the release of his debut single “Neend.” The track, launched under the DESI TRILL label, has quickly gained attention for its hauntingly relatable theme — the universal struggle of sleeplessness tied to love, ambition, and emotional unrest.
Known for his innovative sound, Moroney blends classical Indian instrumentation with futuristic global textures in “Neend,” resulting in a track that feels deeply personal yet universally resonant.
A Sonic Journey Through Sleepless Nights
“Neend,” which means “sleep” in Hindi, is anchored in a poignant question: “Neend mujhe kyu aati nahi?” (“Why can’t I sleep?”). Through this lyrical hook, the song delves into the emotional turbulence that often keeps people awake — whether it’s heartache, dreams, or anxiety. The production features the grounding rhythm of the tabla interwoven with ambient electric pianos and lush synth layers, creating a sonic landscape that feels both intimate and cinematic.
The music video, filmed in Jodhpur’s famed Blue City, adds a visual layer of depth to the track. One candid moment during filming, when a local passerby offered his dupatta to the crew, became an unexpected but fitting symbol of the cultural warmth that the project embodies.
Moroney’s journey in music began in 2013 under the mentorship of renowned producer Ashish Manchanda. Since then, he has built an impressive portfolio working on platforms such as “Coke Studio,” “MTV Unplugged,” and Bollywood films including Laila Majnu and Bharat. “Neend” marks not just his debut as a solo artist but also his first release with DESI TRILL, a label that champions South Asian talent and musical heritage.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Moroney said, “Inspired by sleepless nights spent creating music, I wanted to tell a personal story with ‘Neend Mujhe Kyun Aati Nahi.’” He credits lyricists Mihir Thatte and featured vocalist Shaurya Saxena for helping capture the emotional core of the song. Saxena, known for his classical influences, said the line “Neend Mujhe Kyun Aati Nahi” instantly struck a chord with him. “It’s a feeling every artist knows too well — those quiet, restless hours chasing meaning and melody,” he reflected.
DESI TRILL co-founder Shabz Naqvi praised the collaboration, noting, “Aman and Shaurya have created something that brings the traditional Hindi sound back to the forefront while merging it with current pop dynamics. ‘Neend’ is a perfect example of what DESI TRILL stands for — heritage, emotion, and innovation.”
“Neend” is now streaming on all major platforms, where it continues to resonate with audiences navigating their own sleepless nights.
