Sonam Kapoor’s Struggle with PCOS

Sonam Kapoor has often spoken openly about her battle with PCOS. She revealed that she had been dealing with the condition from a young age, which caused hormonal imbalances, weight gain, acne, and facial hair.

At a recent event, Sonam shared how her teenage years were particularly challenging. She faced mockery from people who commented on her facial hair, often teasing her by referencing her father, Anil Kapoor.

“When I turned 16, I gained weight, had acne, and facial hair. People would say, ‘Oh, she’s Anil Kapoor’s daughter.’ It was tough because this is supposed to be the age when you look your best.”

A Lesson from Kajol

In her conversation with journalist Barkha Dutt during the ‘We The Women’ event, Sonam revealed how actress Kajol inspired her during that tough phase. Kajol, one of Bollywood’s top actresses at the time, confidently embraced her natural unibrow, which became a symbol of self-acceptance for Sonam.

Sonam recalled how her mother showed her Kajol’s picture and said, “Look at her! She’s the biggest heroine of this time.” Kajol’s unapologetic attitude toward her appearance encouraged Sonam to embrace her own individuality.
