Despite the strong weekend numbers, Awarapan 2 could now find it difficult to match the lifetime collection of Saiyaara if the weekday trend does not improve.
Awarapan 2 Box Office Collection
Awarapan 2 opened with ₹23.40 crore on Friday. The film then recorded a major jump on Saturday, collecting ₹34.09 crore, before adding another ₹26.82 crore on Sunday.
The film’s opening weekend total stood at ₹84.31 crore.
However, Monday brought a considerable decline. Awarapan 2 collected ₹10.06 crore on its first Monday, taking its four-day total to ₹94.37 crore.
The Monday figure is notably lower than the momentum generated over the weekend and now becomes an important indicator for the film’s box office journey.
Awarapan 2 Had a Better Opening Than Saiyaara
One of the talking points around Awarapan 2 is that the Emraan Hashmi starrer started its theatrical journey with a stronger opening than Saiyaara.
However, the comparison has changed considerably after Monday’s numbers. While Awarapan 2 began ahead, its sizeable drop on the first working day has raised questions about whether it can maintain enough momentum to finish ahead of Saiyaara’s lifetime collection.
At this stage, it appears increasingly difficult for Awarapan 2 to surpass Saiyaara if the weekday collections continue to fall at the current pace.
₹100 Crore Is Now Within Reach
Awarapan 2 currently stands at ₹94.37 crore after four days and needs another ₹5.63 crore to reach the ₹100 crore mark.
The film is expected to benefit from a discounted ticket offer on Tuesday, which could help it cross the milestone on Day 5.
The Tuesday collection will therefore be particularly important. A strong number could provide the film with some much-needed momentum, while another significant drop would make its lifetime prospects more challenging.
