Ramayana Box Office 45% Jump on Saturday! Diwali Sunday to Be Slow, But Wait for Monday and Tuesday – A Massive Storm Is Coming!

After recording its biggest day since release, Ramayana faces a possible Sunday slowdown due to Diwali. However, the post-festival rush could bring a massive box office turnaround.

After facing a relatively slow start at the box office, Ramayana (Hindi) has finally shown signs of a strong comeback. The film recorded an impressive 45% jump in collections on Saturday, Choti Diwali, registering its biggest single-day business since release. However, the box office journey could see another interesting turn over the next few days. With Diwali falling on Sunday, the film is expected to witness a slowdown, particularly during evening shows due to Lakshmi Puja celebrations. But the real fireworks could begin on Monday and Tuesday, when audiences are expected to return to cinemas in large numbers after the festivities. With mass centres expected to contribute significantly, these two days could potentially change the film’s box office trajectory.

Ramayana Box Office Collection: Saturday Records Biggest Day

The Hindi version of Ramayana delivered an excellent performance on Saturday, collecting ₹53 crore nett in India. This represents a remarkable 45% growth over Friday’s ₹38.25 crore and is also comfortably higher than its opening-day collection of ₹47 crore.

With this jump, Saturday has become the biggest day of the film’s theatrical run so far. The three-day collection of the Hindi version now stands at ₹138.25 crore nett.

Here is the reported day-wise box office breakdown:

DayHindi Version Collection
Thursday (Day 1)₹47 crore
Friday (Day 2)₹38.25 crore
Saturday (Day 3)₹53 crore
Total₹138.25 crore

The dubbed versions have also contributed to the film’s performance, collecting ₹16.50 crore on Day 1, ₹11 crore on Day 2 and ₹15.50 crore on Day 3. Their combined three-day collection stands at ₹43 crore.

Taking all languages into account, Ramayana has collected ₹181.25 crore nett in India in its first three days. These figures exclude 3D glasses charges.

Why Has Ramayana Performed Below Expectations?

Despite the impressive Saturday growth, Ramayana has not yet delivered the kind of box office performance expected from a film of its scale.

The timing of its release appears to have worked against it to some extent. With Diwali celebrations falling within its opening weekend, audience turnout and show preferences have been affected by festive commitments. Moreover, the word of mouth has been average to positive rather than exceptionally strong, which may have prevented the film from exploding at the box office right from its opening day.

Nevertheless, Saturday’s 45% jump is an encouraging development. It suggests that the film still has considerable potential, particularly with the extended festive holiday period approaching.

Diwali Sunday Expected to Witness a Drop

While Saturday turned out to be excellent for Ramayana, Sunday is unlikely to follow the same trend. With Diwali and Lakshmi Puja being celebrated on Sunday, cinema business is expected to take a hit, especially during evening shows.

Many families will be occupied with religious rituals, celebrations and festivities, which could affect theatre attendance. The auspicious Lakshmi Puja mahurat is also expected to impact evening show occupancy.

Therefore, a drop in Sunday’s collection would not necessarily indicate a decline in audience interest. The festival itself is likely to be the bigger reason behind the slowdown.

Monday and Tuesday Could Create Havoc at the Box Office

The real opportunity for Ramayana begins on Monday, the day after Diwali. Traditionally, many people prefer visiting cinemas once the main festival celebrations are over. With families and friends looking for entertainment after Diwali, theatres could witness a substantial increase in footfalls.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to emerge as the biggest days of the film’s opening week. Mass centres, in particular, could witness a huge turnout, potentially giving the film the kind of collections it has been waiting for.

If the Saturday momentum carries forward into the post-Diwali period, Ramayana could register a massive jump on Monday and maintain strong business on Tuesday as well.

Ramayana Box Office: The Biggest Days Are Yet to Come?

For now, Saturday’s performance has provided a much-needed boost to Ramayana. Although the film has started below expectations, its latest growth suggests that the box office story is far from over.

Sunday may turn out to be comparatively slow because of Diwali celebrations, but Monday and Tuesday could completely change the narrative. The post-Diwali rush, combined with the expected turnout at mass centres, could help the film deliver massive numbers.

The coming two days will be crucial. If Ramayana manages to capitalise on the festive audience rush, it could turn its initial underperformance into a much stronger box office run. The real box office fireworks may begin after Diwali!
