Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa-starrer Main Actor Nahin Hoon has finally arrived on the OTT platform after making its mark on the international festival circuit and completing its theatrical run. Directed by Aditya Kripalani, the independent film is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video India, giving audiences a chance to watch the critically recognised drama from the comfort of their homes.
Main Actor Nahin Hoon revolves around Mouni, played by Chitrangada Satarupa, a frustrated actor based in Mumbai who gets connected with Adnan Baig, portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Adnan is a retired banker living in Frankfurt. The two initially come together through an online film audition, but what begins as an acting exercise slowly turns into a deeply personal interaction between two strangers.

The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video India on September 9, 2026. Its digital release comes after the movie travelled through the international festival circuit before reaching Indian theatres.
Speaking about the film’s arrival on Prime Video, director Aditya Kripalani said that the platform’s large subscriber base has already helped the film reach more viewers. He also revealed that the team has been receiving messages from audiences while they watch the film.
The director said that it feels particularly rewarding to have viewers directly reach out through social media while watching the movie.

One of the distinctive aspects of Main Actor Nahin Hoon is the way its central performances were filmed. Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa perform together through video calls while their characters are located in different countries.
The film was shot simultaneously in India and Germany over a period of 28 days. While Satarupa’s portions were filmed in Mumbai, Siddiqui’s scenes were shot in Frankfurt, with Kripalani monitoring the feeds from both locations.
The unusual production approach also fits the film’s intimate storyline, which largely develops through the digital connection between its two central characters.

Main Actor Nahin Hoon began its theatrical journey in the UK in November 2025 before arriving in Indian cinemas on May 8, 2026.
Before its theatrical release, the film had already gained attention on the international festival circuit. It had its world premiere at Cinequest and went on to receive recognition at several international film festivals.

The film has also collected awards for its performances and direction. Nawazuddin Siddiqui won Best Actor at the New York Indian Film Festival, while Chitrangada Satarupa received the Best Actor (Female) award at the DC South Asian Film Festival.
Director Aditya Kripalani was also honoured with the Best Director (Jury) award at the DC South Asian Film Festival.
Interestingly, Siddiqui chose not to charge an acting fee for Main Actor Nahin Hoon, further highlighting his association with the film’s independent and performance-driven approach.

Aditya Kripalani has built a reputation in independent cinema through films that explore social issues, human relationships and unconventional subjects. A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, Kripalani made his directorial debut with Tikli and Laxmi Bomb.
He later directed films including Tottaa Pataaka Item Maal, Devi Aur Hero and Not Today. His work has explored subjects including gender, violence, mental health and the complexities of human relationships.
