With Ajay Devgn’s Dhamaal 4 and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan enjoying successful theatrical runs before its arrival, the Marvel spectacle has dramatically shifted the box office landscape.

Spider-Man leaves Dhamaal 4 and Jana Nayagan behind

Before Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit theatres, Dhamaal 4 and Jana Nayagan were performing strongly at the domestic box office.

On its 24th day, Dhamaal 4 collected approximately ₹2.35 crore, taking its India net collection to ₹161.05 crore and gross collection to ₹191.39 crore.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan registered a strong second Sunday with ₹10.70 crore, pushing its India net total to ₹175.60 crore and gross collection to ₹204.92 crore.

However, Spider-Man: Brand New Day eclipsed both films within just four days of release. On Sunday alone, the Marvel film earned a staggering ₹76 crore in India, following Saturday’s ₹70.25 crore. Its four-day India net collection now stands at ₹256.20 crore, while the gross collection has reached ₹306 crore.

The figures underline the enormous craze for Marvel films among Indian audiences, with the superhero franchise once again proving its dominance at the box office.

Creates history by surpassing Baahubali 2’s opening weekend

One of the film’s biggest achievements has been its record-breaking opening weekend in India.

With a gross collection of ₹306 crore in just four days, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has reportedly overtaken the opening weekend record previously held by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which had collected around ₹304 crore during its opening weekend in 2017.

The milestone makes it the highest-opening Hollywood film in India.

Second biggest Hollywood opening worldwide after Avengers: Endgame

The film’s success isn’t limited to India.

Globally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered an extraordinary opening weekend of approximately $927 million, making it the second-biggest worldwide opening for a Hollywood film after Avengers: Endgame.

In North America alone, the film collected $355 million during its debut weekend, including an impressive $168 million opening day. International markets contributed another $572 million, with China emerging as one of the biggest overseas markets after contributing around $121 million.

Can Spider-Man Brand New Day join the $2 billion club?

With such a massive opening, industry experts believe the film is comfortably on course to cross the coveted $1 billion mark worldwide.

Many trade analysts also believe that if the film continues to maintain its momentum over the coming weeks, it could even challenge the $2 billion milestone achieved by only a handful of films in cinematic history.

Tom Holland’s previous outing, Spider-Man: No Way Home, finished its theatrical run with more than $1.9 billion globally, and early trends indicate that Brand New Day could potentially aim even higher.

Viewers have praised the film’s action sequences, visual effects, emotional storytelling, and Tom Holland’s performance. The strong word of mouth has further strengthened its prospects, making it one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.

With record-breaking collections across multiple markets and exceptional audience reception, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has firmly established itself as the box office phenomenon of 2026.
