The December 2026 box office race could be getting even bigger. According to the latest industry reports, Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited comedy Golmaal 5 is now expected to take the release slot that was initially reserved for Ranger. If the reports prove accurate, audiences could witness one of the biggest three-way clashes of the year, with Golmaal 5, Prabhas’ Fauji, and Akshay Kumar’s untitled film all eyeing the same release window.
While an official announcement is still awaited, the reported reshuffle has already created a buzz among moviegoers.
Golmaal 5 reportedly replaces Ranger’s release date
Recent reports suggest that Ajay Devgn’s action film Ranger has been pushed to 2027, with Golmaal 5 now expected to take over its reported December 4, 2026 release slot.
If confirmed, it would bring back the successful Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty partnership to theatres sooner than expected. The duo has previously delivered blockbuster hits through the Golmaal franchise, making the fifth installment one of the most anticipated comedy films in recent years.
However, the makers are yet to officially announce the release date.
A blockbuster box office clash could be on the cards
Should Golmaal 5 arrive on December 4, it will face stiff competition from Prabhas’ Fauji, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, which has already been announced for the same date.
Adding to the excitement, Akshay Kumar’s untitled film, reportedly co-starring Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna, is also expected to release during the same period.
If all three films stick to their schedules, December 2026 could witness one of Bollywood’s biggest and most exciting box office clashes in recent memory.
Akshay Kumar joins the Golmaal universe
One of the biggest talking points surrounding Golmaal 5 is the reported addition of Akshay Kumar to the franchise.
Reports suggest the superstar will be seen in a negative role, marking a fresh twist for the popular comedy series.
Apart from Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, the film is expected to feature Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu, and Sharman Joshi in key roles. Veteran performers Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari, and Ashwini Kalsekar are also reportedly returning to the franchise.
Official confirmation still awaited
Although industry reports indicate that Golmaal 5 has taken over Ranger‘s release slot, neither Rohit Shetty nor the makers have officially confirmed the development.
Until an official announcement is made, the release date should be treated as speculation. However, if the reports turn out to be accurate, December 2026 is shaping up to be a dream month for cinema lovers, with three major films expected to battle it out at the box office.
